The facade is the first thing that catches our eye when we look at a building. However, it not only serves an aesthetic function, but also a protective one. It is also part of the insulation system that defines the energy efficiency of a building. Currently, there is a wide range of materials on the market, the production of which also emphasizes ecological solutions. Materials that imitate wood, brick, or stone are increasingly being used, but with significantly better performance parameters and less maintenance required.
Today's trends are definitely dominated by references to nature – subtle shades of green, brown, and gray prevail. However, sometimes bolder, more contrasting combinations of light and dark colors appear in the space.
The most fashionable facade materials in 2025
The most popular facade materials currently include:
• Siloxane and silicone plasters – resistant to dirt and easy to maintain. Also considered a very durable solution.
• Architectural concrete – a material chosen by fans of minimalism and raw style. Visually, it gives the building a unique character. Versatile and resistant to weather conditions.
• Clinker brick – a classic known for many years, but experiencing a renaissance in 2025. Darker shades of clinker and combinations with other materials, such as glass or metal, are currently in vogue. It is not particularly demanding in terms of maintenance.
• Glazed facades – the advantage of large glass surfaces is their energy efficiency. This solution allows for a much higher level of natural sunlight utilization.
• Green, living walls – a unique solution that we can increasingly see in shopping malls, office buildings, restaurants, and even homes. Plants have air-purifying properties and increase the amount of oxygen.
• Substitutes imitating natural materials – solutions combining aesthetics reminiscent of traditional and natural raw materials, but requiring much less maintenance, are becoming increasingly popular. These include, for example, slats, composite boards, and brick effect.
Facade slats are thin, horizontal or vertical panels, most often imitating natural wood. They are easy to install and allow for a variety of vertical and horizontal configurations. This allows for creative and unique designs, as well as control over the amount of light entering the building.
A similar solution is composite facade boards, which resemble real boards from the outside. This product meets the aesthetic requirements of a wide range of customers, but it is slightly more sensitive to external factors and must be properly maintained.
Currently, manufacturers also offer imitation bricks that are resistant to sunlight and moisture. A wide range of eye-catching colors and patterns is available. It is used in both traditional and modern construction.
Modern facade systems combine a layer of insulation (wool, polystyrene, insulation boards) with a suitably selected outer layer, which significantly reduces heat loss and meets current energy requirements. When choosing a system, it is always worth checking the completeness of the solutions (adhesives, profiles, accessories), the manufacturer's warranties, and the contractor's experience with the technology. A well-designed modern facade is an investment for decades, so it is better to invest in a refined design and quality installation than just a trendy material.
